• About the artwork – Taken from drawings and studies made in the whilst in the Hawkes Bay region of New Zealand. I spent a couple of days in the little township of Wairoa whilst travelling from Napier up to Gisborne on the east coast of New Zealand’s North island in 2019. ⁣
  ⁣
  It seemed a little strange to me to see a lighthouse situated so far back from the actual coast which is a bit further round the corner. I am always attracted to lighthouses and the impact they have on a composition- this probably reverts back to my interest in Edward Hopper who I had looked at a lot previously.
