- About the artwork – This piece is part of a series inspired by journeys and spaces of transit. It originates from a set of sketches made on location in Southwark, London—just a short walk from the River Thames. As I made my way on foot from the train station to the Tate Modern, I took time to explore the area and capture moments along the route.
I’m often drawn to bridges and underpasses for the compelling compositions they offer, and this study is a strong example of that interest. I was particularly struck by the interplay between the stark, textured concrete and the rich, deep blue of an early February sky in the English capital.
