- About the artwork –The study of a series of works made whilst living and working in South Derbyshire as an art teacher/ artist-in-residence at Repton School. This artwork features a local landmark- the Cross, bathed in winter light. It was made from several drawing studies carried out from a flat within the Old Mitre, a building that overlooked the location, home to teaching staff at Repton school. The angles and composition are typical of the features in an artwork that draws me in. My aim was to not overwork areas, but instead, only suggest buildings and structures in an unrendered way, so that it retained the energy and atmosphere that I try to capture in my paintings.
