- About the artwork – This artwork is part of an ongoing series of studio interiors, inspired by numerous studies I conducted of my studio and the gallery below during the COVID-19 lockdown. During this period, I created a substantial number of studio studies to explore and develop my artistic process. These works are heavily influenced by the interiors and drawings of Richard Diebenkorn and Edward Hopper.I often feature a focal point in my compositions—typically a easel, or in this case a chair. I did several versions using this ‘prop’, most notably ‘Studio Interior with Red Chair’ and ‘Morning Light in Lockdown’, but not all made it to finished studies.
