- About the artwork – This artwork is part of a small series of works made from sketches taken in New York in the summer of 2022. In particular, I made many studies around the Queensboro Bridge and the North East Side- but I was also interesting the the overpasses and bridges. I have always been interested in the contrast that buildings, bridges, motorway flyovers and in this case- overpasses, create on the formation of angular shapes across roads when the light is strong. These only really occur in urban centres and no more than in cities like New York. I did many sketches and colour studies whilst I was here and this is part of a series of artworks made from these. Not being from a large American city made everywhere visually new and interesting.
