- About the artwork – Taken from a series of drawings and colour studies whilst in Seattle. The light during the late August/ early September time of my visit was perfect for the formation of the angular shapes of shadows across roads, flyovers, skyscrapers and passageways. It was the first visit to a large American city, so everywhere was new and interesting. Smith’s tower was also a building that I remember from my childhood where I used to draw it from pictures, so it was great to see it in person. It features in a number of my artworks from this time (another being ‘Downtown Seattle‘).
