About the artwork – Coit Tower has been a recurring subject of fascination. Standing prominently atop Telegraph Hill, it commands views from many vantage points throughout San Francisco, making it a compelling landmark to weave into my work. My interest in Coit Tower intensified during my study of mid-20th-century American painting, particularly the vibrant fresco murals inside the tower, created by 25 artists in the American Social Realism style. This rich history inspired me to undertake detailed sketching and note-taking, which laid the groundwork for multiple series of artworks centered on this location. The piece is part of a small, focused series of two works at the same scale, which themselves belong to a broader, ongoing exploration of this site within my wider body of studies from the area.
