- About the artwork – I have always be interested in cityscapes, and San Francisco in the perfect place to create compositions that contain many of the key elements that I am attracted too such as contrast, shadows, warm colours, shapes and leading lines. The influence of Bay area artists on my practice also made it an artistic pilgrimage for me, and this piece was made from one of my favorite smaller studies, created to aid me with several larger studies done on canvas in the studio, ‘San Francisco 34’ being one of them. This artwork also was part of another series taking from drawings made on location. I experiemented with various compositions that involved sections being intercepted by lights and telegraph poles which are prominent features on the streets of San Francisco.
