- About the artwork – Taken from a series of drawings and colour studies whilst in San Francisco- and in particular, one of several studies with views of the famous Alcatraz island which is the focal point for many of the compositions in and around higher points of the city. I have always be interested in cityscapes, and San Francisco is the perfect place to create compositions that contain many of the key elements that I am attracted too such as contrast, shadows, warm colours, shapes and leading lines. The influence of Bay area artists on my practice also made it an artistic pilgrimage for me.
