- About the artwork – This artwork is part of an ongoing series of studio interiors, the latest version of which have been made during the ‘lockdown’ periods in 2021/21. I did a large number of studio studies at this time to investigate and explore ideas to develop my process. They have been heavily influenced by lots of drawing studies made from other interiors and works from Richard Diebenkorn and Edward Hopper in particular. I like to feature a focal point in my compositions- often a chair or in this case, an easel and manakin. These are abundant in the art school at the moment and provide a haunting reminder of other people inside a room!!
