- About the artwork – In this vibrant oil painting based on a series of studies made on location on the island of Zakynthos (Zante) at the Monastery Panagia Skopiotissa- a ruined series of buildings located near the top of Mount Skopos in the south-eastern part of the island, my brushstrokes aim to carry the essence of a serene yet spirited place. The semi-abstract style dances between reality and imagination, evoking a sense of peace blended with the dynamic play of colors and shapes. Shadow and light interact, contrasting the stillness of the structure with the lively surroundings of a monastery that dates from 1624 with Byzantine designs and features that I found visually interesting. I did many sketches from around the site that I hope to develop into further painting studies.
