- About the artwork – This artwork was one of the orginal artworks made not long after my visit to San Francisco in 2018- made from a series of drawings and colour studies made whilst on location, but interpreted and made into the resulting oil on board study in New Zealand whilst I was completing an artist in residence position. The visit to the Bay Area was an artistic pilgrimage for me, witnessing the locations where some of my favorite artists worked such as Richard Diebenkorn. The style and materials used to make this artwork were different then to what they are now, which gives the surface a less vibrant but more subdued effect which seems to work well for this composition.
