- About the artwork – I have always been interested in cityscapes, and Salt Lake City offers a compelling setting to continue my exploration of American urban environments. Its wide, ordered streets and strong sense of perspective allow me to build compositions that emphasise many of the elements I am most drawn to, such as contrast, shadow, warm colour, simplified shapes, and clear leading lines. This artwork focuses on one of the city’s main roads, where light, scale, and geometry echo themes present in my previous cityscape studies. Drawing on influences from earlier work rooted in American urban imagery, this study captures a distinctive view of Salt Lake City’s architecture and street structure, highlighting both its openness and its quiet monumentality.
