- About the artwork – This artwork is part of a small series created from sketches I made while in Chicago. I have always been fascinated by the way buildings, bridges, motorway flyovers—and in this case, overpasses—interact to form sharp, angular shapes across the streets when the light hits just right. These striking patterns seem unique to urban centres, especially in large cities like New York or Chicago. While I was there, I made numerous sketches and colour studies, capturing these moments of urban geometry. Coming from a smaller town, the scale and energy of a big American city made everything visually new and endlessly inspiring, and this piece reflects that sense of discovery.
