- About the artwork – This artwork was made from various sketches made on location in Chicago during my visit which also took me to Milwaukee where I did several artist talks. This composition shows my keen interest in visual elements such as perspective and light, as the view from the edge of Chicago’s lake from draws the viewer in towards the city. An urban scene, it also features an underpass- a feature that I am always drawn to due to its contrasting shapes and shadows, and the towering skyscrapers beyond. On the left, the Art Institute of Chicago just comes into view- one of my favorite art galleries!
