- About the artwork – Based on drawing studies made on location, this painting captures a scene from Antelope Island along the shore of the Great Salt Lake. I visited during the early evening, when the light gently illuminated a seemingly abandoned beach shelter. The quiet, lonely atmosphere and soft glow of the setting sun made for an intriguing study—juxtaposing the hard-edged manmade structure against the vast, open sky of this unique Utah landscape. The city of Salt Lake lay beyond the horizon. This work became one of a small series of two studies from the same location.
