- About the artwork – This artwork is part of a small series of works made from sketches taken in New York in the summer of 2022. In particular, I made many studies around the the North East Side and also Hell’s Kitchen. I was attracted to this composition because of the perspective, shade, light, contrast- and a general balance between urban and rural. It also reminds me of several studies by Edward Hopper who’s work I was visiting at the Whitney at the time.
